I entered two shows over the weekend. The first is the Women Photographers of Connecticut exhibit at Gallery 53 in Meriden featuring my photos “Belgian Trio” and “Pine Plains Vista”.
I seem to gravitate to black and white for my photography, and then bold color and contrast for my paintings! The second show is “World of Color” at the Art League of New Britain, and I will be submitting two paintings for consideration:
I am also finalizing my entries for consideration in the 2023 TOPS in Connecticut show run by the Connecticut Association of Photographers.
Gary and I will also be attending an art class together for the first time! Gallery 53 in Meriden has a three-session course in a medium we have never worked with, fused glass!
On a personal note, I was able to work for a great e-learning company for the past two and a half years which enabled me to learn new business areas while allowing me time to cherry-pick things I wanted to do creatively on a part-time basis. It gave me the confidence of a constant salary, I learned aspects of a different industry and loved the intelligent, kind, and talented management team that founded the company. It also provided a level of safety and social distancing in the age of COVID where I could work remotely.
However, things changed this month when I was impacted by the second round of layoffs. Luckily Gary and I worked hard last year to get in much better financial shape so I will be able to have time to take a deep breath, change gears for the next two to three months, and figure out if I should go on my full throttle creative path, revisit a corporate path, or do a hybrid of the two. Or perhaps something totally different!
