“The delicious soft, spring-suggesting air,—how it fills my veins with life! Life becomes again credible to me. A certain dormant life awakes in me, and I begin to love nature again.” ― Henry David Thoreau
As New England winters have been typically challenging, I always found that spring has been the season of hope in my mind. Over the years I have planted bulbs as things to look forward to after a cold and gray season. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, and irises are on the list of favorites to look forward to. Peonies are also a showcase in May blooms; they remind me of Willy Wonka’s candy flowers. I have also planted bulbs for family members so they have a reason to smile and anticipate beauty in gardens and yards.
The red-winged blackbirds and robins have returned. The songbirds are singing loudly and consistently now. The geese are flying back in chevron flight.
This is also a symbolic time for me in terms of growth and rebirth as I embark on a new path in my career. I worked for an e-learning company for 2.5 years and had to switch gears as of last month. I reconnected with one of my favorite senior managers who has made a profound impact on my career over the decades, and I have started to work with a gallery that I love so much. In my heart, I have hope, faith, and excitement for this year. More details to come as things get finalized.
In the meantime, I am channeling strength, purpose, intention, and reflection on accomplishments that will help guide me on my way.
Cheers to spring and this year’s potential!
